Younis Ali.. the godfather of Al-Arabi’s achievement in the Emir of Qatar Cup

One of the prominent names who passed through Qatari football, he played for several local clubs, Al-Ahly, Al-Rayyan, and Umm Salal, and despite his fame as an international player who was given the nickname Guardiola, his greatest fame was as a coach.

He is the star midfielder of Qatari football, Younis Ali Rahmati, the best coach in the Qatar Stars League 2023. He was born on January 3, 1983 in Doha, and began his football career with the Qatari Al-Ahly Club from 2000 until 2007, which was his first period with the club, during which he participated in 118 matches and scored 5 goals.

In 2007, Younis moved to Al Rayyan, and his playing period extended to 2013, during which he participated in 118 matches and scored 4 goals, to play the 2013/2014 season with Umm Salal Club, in which he played 6 matches, during which he did not score any goals, then returned again to his mother club Al-Ahly 2014, and he remained with it until he concluded his football career in 2017, where he played 61 matches and scored one goal.

At the international level, Younis Ali was part of the Qatari Al-Anabi squad that won gold in the 2006 Asian Games hosted by Doha, when the Qatari team defeated its Iraqi brother in the final 1-0. He also participated in the 2007 Asian Cup.

After retiring from playing, he joined the technical staff of Al-Ahly Club, but unofficially, as he prepared through training courses, until he began his career as a coach with Al-Markhiya Club in 2020 and achieved good results with it until he moved on to assume the technical leadership of Qatar Club, with whom he also achieved remarkable results, Al-Arabi club paid to sign him as a successor to the Icelandic Heimer Hallgrimsson, and during his first season 2021/2022, he promoted the team to fourth place in the league, after Al-Arabi had finished the previous season in seventh place, and in the following season 2022/2023, he promoted the team to second place in the Qatar Stars League by two points difference from Al-Duhail club, the champion, but he succeeded in winning three times over Al-Sadd Club in the Emir Cup final and regained for Al-Arabi the title that had been absent from its coffers for 30 years, to be crowned with it as the best coach of the year, as the second national coach to win the award after Abdullah Mubarak in 2006.
