One of the best goalkeepers in the Sultanate of Oman, the main goalkeeper for Al Seeb Club, who achieved an unprecedented achievement for Omani football by winning the AFC Cup title, and in the same season he achieved the local treble for the first time in the club’s history, but despite that, he remains the third goalkeeper with National team.

He is the star Ahmed Farag Al-Rawahi, who was hosted by the Al-Ittihad Gulf website in this dialogue.

Q: Introduce Ahmed Al-Rawahi to the Gulf audience ?

Ahmed Faraj Al Rawahi, goalkeeper of the Omani national team and Al Seeb Club.

Q: Samail Club.. What does it represent to you? How did you get started with football?

Samail is the state club. I grew up in it and started my sports career, which I started with our hometown team called Al-Hilal Sports Club.

Q: You moved to Al-Seeb and played in the youth and Olympic categories, then spent 5 seasons with Al-Nasr, and then returned again to Al-Seeb. How was it to leave and return after long years?

I spent 3 seasons in Al-Seeb in the junior stages, and then I moved to Al-Nasr Club for 5 seasons. The important thing is that I achieved the most valuable championships with it, the Sultan Cup, and then I returned to Al-Seeb, and at that time I felt a greater passion for achieving championships with the Emperor, and thank God it was achieved, and we are still looking for more championships.

Q: The season before last was exceptional with Al-Seeb. You achieved the local treble. Tell us about the scenes of this season?

With the grace of God, and then the management, players and fans worked on one goal, which is to write a new history for the club, the goal that we set was achieved, with the determination of the heroes who were motivated and committed to daily training, and as a result of this we achieved what was required, a season that will remain stuck in the imagination of everyone who participated in it, especially since we crowned it with a cup. Asian Federation.

Q: The AFC Cup, as the first Omani club to win the Cup, with Al Rawahi as the main goalkeeper. What does this title represent in your career?

For me, it is the best at the Sultanate level and at the club level, as it is the first continental achievement for the country in general and Seeb in particular.

Q: Al-Seeb has achieved great success with the start of the current season. What are the most important goals set by the administration?

Al-Seeb is always looking for championships every season, and out of great appreciation for the work and the arrangement that has been provided, our goal this season is to win the cup and the league, as we did before, especially since the team includes most of the national team members, with administrative and technical stability that is clear to everyone.

Q: The third goalkeeper in the Omani national team, even though you are a starter for the club and have represented all categories of the national teams, how do you live this paradox?

In the national team, we always support each other, regardless of who is inside the rectangle and who is sitting on the bench, who must be ready to participate at any moment. In the end, we all represent the Sultanate.

Q: Did you benefit on the technical level from your presence with the first team, despite your non-participation?

Of course, I play at a high level and I get to interact with players who are the best in the Sultanate and also through international matches, during which we see different schools and a different philosophy, all of which are in the interest of all players.

Q: What did you learn from your role model, Ali Al Habsi?

Yes, Al-Amin is my role model as a guard. I learned a lot from him and I am still learning from him.

His performance on the field and off the field through his dealings and interaction with society, and thank God I had the opportunity to train with him in the national team before his retirement.

Q: In your opinion, who are the most important Gulf goalkeepers currently?

The most important Gulf goalkeepers currently: Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini, the best goalkeeper in the last Gulf Cup, Khaled Issa, and Abdullah Al-Mayouf.

Q: Compared to the Gulf teams, where do you place the Omani team?

From my point of view, in the forefront, the current team is not lacking in anything, players of a very good level, which was evident during the last Gulf Cup, and before that the double qualifiers during which we were close to qualifying for the Qatar World Cup playoff.

Q: What are your expectations for Omani Red in the Asian Cup? Who is nominated for the title?

I expect that we will go far in the tournament, because we have the will and determination to achieve football achievement for the Sultanate, with a distinguished group of players, and a technical staff at the highest level led by the experienced Bratko Ivankovic, and I nominate Japan for the title.

Q: The dream of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar was lost by a point difference over Australia, which competed in the playoffs. Can this be compensated for during the next qualifiers?

As long as God gives us the opportunity to go through the experience again, we will strive with all our effort to take advantage of it and reach the World Cup, and I hope that we will be the generation that can achieve the first achievement of qualifying for the World Cup finals.
