Imad Muhammad… the Al-Rafidain star, top scorer in the Asian Youth Cup

One of the most successful strikers to play for the Iraqi national team in the modern millennium and one of the most talented players in the history of Iraqi football, and one of the few who entered the Hundred Club in the Iraqi national team’s shirt.

He is the attacking winger, Imad Muhammad Reda, who was born in Karbala on July 24, 1982. He began his football career with Al-Zawraa Club in 1998, and won the league title for three consecutive seasons from 1999 to 2001, and the Iraq Cup for three consecutive seasons from 1998 to 2000, before moving on a long professional career tour that began in 2002 AD with Al-Gharafa of Qatar, with whom he won the Qatar Stars League and the Emir of Qatar Cup in 2002, then he moved to Al-Wakrah in 2004 AD, and after one season in the ranks of Al-Wakrah, Imad Muhammad headed to the Iranian League, in which he spent 7 seasons, through Foolad Khuzestan in the 2005/2006 season, he played 14 matches and scored 8 goals, then he moved to Sepahan, for which he played two separate periods from 2006 to 2010, and the 2011/2012 season. He was also loaned in 2011 to Shahin Bushehr Club, with whom he played 11 matches and scored 3 goals.

Imad Muhammad won many titles in Iran, including the league title twice with Sepahan in the 2009/2010 and 2011/2012 seasons. He also won the cup title in the 2006/2007 season, and came runner-up in the AFC Champions League. He also came runner-up in the cup with Shahin Bushehr, and had the experience to accompany the Zamalek of Egypt in the 2010/2011 season. He played two matches with the Zamalek club and did not score any goals, but he won the Egypt Cup with them. Then he returned to his club, Al-Umm Al-Zawraa, in 2012 AD, to end the career with which he started.

After retirement, Imad Muhammad worked in coaching, where he coached Al-Zawraa from 2014/2015, and Al-Najaf from 2015 to 2017, and in 2018 he coached Naft Al-Wasat, and from 2019 to 2021 he took over the task of coaching the Al-Rafidain Lions under 17 years, and in 2021 he took over the technical leadership of the under-20 team.
