Mahdi Al-Humaidan.. The career of the maker of the historic goal for Bahraini Red in the Gulf Cup

One of the most prominent Bahraini football strikers, and one of the members of the Bahraini Red Brigade that won the first Gulf Cup, he was distinguished by his exceptional skill and ability to dribble.

He is the star Mahdi Faisal Ibrahim Al-Humaidan, who was born in Manama on May 19, 1993. He was obsessed with football since his early years, and began his football career in 2006 with the youth of Al-Ahly club until 2011, when he moved to Qatar for two years to complete his university studies, but he returned in July 2013 to join… To Bahraini Al-Ahly, which is active in the second division, and in its second season 2014/2015, Al-Humaidan won its first title and promoted the team to the Premier League, and in its third season it achieved the Bahraini Federation Cup championship after winning the final over Al-Malikiyah on penalties.

During his fifth season 2017/2018, Al-Humaidan, along with Al-Ahly, occupied last place and was relegated to the ranks of the second-tier clubs, but he quickly returned again after only one season, where he achieved the second-tier title and ascended again to the adult league, and reached the final of the Bahraini Federation Cup, but lost in front of Riffa Al Sharqi 1/3.

In January 2020, Al-Humaidan moved to Al-Qadisiyah Saudi Arabia, which is active in the first division, and played with it for one season, during which he contributed to the team occupying second place, one point behind the champion Al-Batin, and ascended to the Premier League, and in October 2020, Al-Humaidan returned to Bahrain through the Riffa Gate, to play the 2020/2021 season, during which he won the Bahraini League and Cup titles.

In July 2021, Al-Humaidan moved to Al-Khalidiya of Bahrain in a free transfer, and with his first season he won the Bahrain King’s Cup, after winning the final over Riffa Al Sharqi on penalties, and in the 2022/2023 season, Al-Humaidan achieved the Premier League title, and during the season he won the Best player in rounds (3, 6, 16), and best player of the month (November, December, March, May). He also crowned his efforts by obtaining the title of top scorer in the league with 14 goals, with a single goal difference in front of Mahdi Abdul-Jabbar, and crowned his efforts by winning the Cup title of the Bahraini Super Cup after defeating Al-Riffaa with two clean goals, making it the eighth title for Al-Humaidan at the club level.

At the international level, Al-Humaidan joined the Bahraini Reds on November 19, 2018, upon being summoned by the Czech Miroslav Soukup, and played his first international match against the Sultanate of Oman, which was friendly, where Al-Humaidan participated as a substitute, and despite the Bahraini team’s loss 1-2, the match witnessed Al-Humaidan scoring his first international goals. Al-Humaidan also participated in the 2019 Asian Cup in the Emirates, and played the match against South Korea in the round of 16, where Bahrain lost 1-2, and lost the opportunity to qualify for the quarter-finals.

With the Portuguese Helio Souza assuming the technical leadership of the Bahraini Red team, Al-Humaidan was called up to join the Gulf 24 squad in Qatar, and he lived up to everyone’s expectations and assisted the championship goal in the final against Saudi Arabia, with his pass to Mohammed Saad Al-Rumaihi, and Al-Humaidan maintained his place in the Bahrain squad during the double qualifiers, the Qatar World Cup 2022, the Asian Cup, as well as the Arab Cup Qatar 2021, then the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup in Basra, where the Bahraini Reds were eliminated by Oman in the semi-finals after losing 0/1.
