He started his football career with Al-Khor Club, where his father was a coach at the club, and he was always present inside the club with his father. He played in the Al Baraem category, then moved to Al Sadd Club, and in 2002 he moved to the Belgian Royal Antwerp, and played with them until 2004. He participated in 30 matches and scored one goal. .
In the 2004/2005 season, he moved to the Cypriot club Limassol, where he played 16 matches, scoring 4 goals. In 2005 he moved to Al Sadd, then in 2005/2006 he moved to the English club Manchester City, and in 2006 he returned to Al Sadd again, and in the 2006/2007 season. He played for Al Rayyan Club, and in 2007 he played for Portuguese Sporting Braga, during which he went through a loan period to Boavista and participated with them in 11 matches. At the international level, Hussein Yasser joined the Qatar national team in the 2001/2002 season, and participated with them in the 2007 and 2011 Asian Cups.
