Al-Annabi cuts the opening ribbon of the tournament against Lebanon
The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which starts on January 12 and continues until February 10 of next year, will witness spirited competitions between a number of the best football teams in Asia. The tournament matches will host nine modern stadiums built according to the best international specifications, including seven World Cup stadiums. The stunning 88,000-seat venue is best known for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️ final.
The upcoming Asian Championship competitions will host six other World Cup stadiums, which are; Al Bayt Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Education City Stadium, and Khalifa International Stadium. These stadiums will be joined by Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium and Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, the headquarters of the Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd and Al Duhail, respectively, with 24 participating. A team in the Asian Cup Qatar 2023 was divided into 6 groups, and the tournament will witness up to three matches per day during the group stage, and thanks to the close distance nature in the State of Qatar, fans will have an exceptional opportunity to attend more than one match during the day, and this feature also allows fans coming from Outside the country, stay in one place throughout the duration of the tournament.
Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim, CEO of the Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, said: “We are pleased to host the Asian Championship for the third time in Qatar. We are confident that the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 will be the best edition that has been organized so far, and the match schedule will witness a number of Fantastic, high-energy rivalries between some of the most famous teams in Asia.”
He added, “We await with great enthusiasm the return of the world football atmosphere to the stadiums in Qatar, and their stadiums will be filled with fans who are passionate about the world of the round witch, and who will go to the country from all over the continent to attend the matches of the prestigious sporting event.”
Qatar hosted the Asian Cup, the most important tournament in the Asian continent, in 1988 and 2011, and Al Annabi came in the first Group in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 alongside China, Tajikistan and Lebanon, and Al Annabi’s remaining two matches will be held at Al Bayt Stadium, where the Tajikistan national team will meet Qatar January 17th at 5:30 pm, as it faces China at Khalifa International Stadium January 22, at 6 pm.
The two best teams from each group, in addition to the four best third-placed teams, will compete in the round of 16, which will start on January 28, while the final whistle will sound on February 10 at Lusail Stadium at 6:00 pm.
