Paulo Jorge Gomez Pinto, the defensive midfielder who has the ability to shoot perfectly, is characterized by enthusiasm and his leadership personality, was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on June 20, 1969.
Pinto began his football career (which extended from 1988 to 2004, with a total of 284 matches, during which he scored 16 goals), in the Portuguese team Amadora and spent one year with it, then moved to Guimarães, then Sporting Lisbon which he moved from to Benfica, and then returned again to Sporting. Lisbon, with whom he ended his career as a player and started his coaching career as a temporary coach, but after a while he became the main coach, he coached the team from 2005 to 2009, and succeeded in winning the Cup twice, and the Super Cup in 2007 and 2008.
At the international level, Bento has a good history, as he was one of the main players in the national team, with whom he played 35 matches, participated in the 2000 European Nations and the 2002 World Cup, and also led the national team as a coach to the 2012 European Nations semi-finals.
Pinto led the Saudi Al-Ahly club for one season and qualified with it to the final of the King’s Cup, but lost the match and submitted his resignation.
He also assumed the technical leadership of the Portugal national team from 2010 to 2014, after which he led some clubs, which are the Brazilian Cruzeiro in 2016, and the Greek Olympiacos in the 2016-2017 season, with which he achieved the league championship, and the Chinese Chongqing Lifan in the 2017-2018 season, and his last training stations were with the South Korean national team which he led for a period of 4 years from 2018 to 2022, and ended it by participating in the last World Cup finals “World Cup Qatar 2022” by leaving the round of 16 at the hands of the Brazil national team, where he led the South Korean national team in 57 matches, won 35, drew 13, and lost 9 of which are two matches in the World Cup in Qatar.
