AS Asia U-17: Yemen defeats Laos and qualifies for the quarter-finals

The Yemen national team booked the qualification card for the quarter-finals, after defeating Laos 2-1 on Sunday at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, in the second round of the first Group competitions in the AFC U-17 Junior Championship 2023 in Thailand.

Adel Qassem (28) and Anwar Al-Tariqi (75 from a penalty kick) scored the two goals for Yemen, while Busombon Baniyavong (54) scored the goal for Laos.

The Yemeni team maintained the top of the group standings with 6 points from two matches, on goal difference against Thailand, while the balance of Laos and Malaysia remained devoid of points, as Yemen and Thailand guaranteed qualification for the quarter-finals.
