Oman is the first to qualify for the semi-finals of the National Earthlink U-23 Championship

The Omani national team wrote down its name as the first to qualify for the semi-finals of the National Earthlink West Asian U-23 Championship, which is being hosted by the Iraqi Federation until June 20, 2023.

The Omani team topped the third Group with 6 points, after achieving its second successive victory, this time at the expense of its Yemeni counterpart, 3-0, in the match that was held at Al-Madinah International Stadium in Baghdad in the second round of the tournament.

On the other hand, the Yemeni team remained at (0) points, which is the balance of the Lebanese team, which had lost the first round against Oman.

In turn, the Jordanian national team took the lead in the first Group with 4 points, after overturning its 1-0 deficit against the UAE into a valuable and exciting victory, 2-1, despite completing the match that also took place at Al-Madinah Stadium with ten players, after its captain, Daniel Afaneh, was given a red card.

The loss of the UAE team caused it to not move its balance yet, while the Iraqi team settles second with one point after a tie with Jordan in the first round.

In the second group, which will be hosted by the city of Karbala, the Iranian team scored a strong start by defeating its Syrian counterpart 3-1, to put its balance on 3 points, as is the case with the Palestinian team, which previously beat Syria in the opening round.

The first round of the tournament witnessed a draw between Jordan and Iraq, the owner of the land, and the fans, with a score of 2-2, and the victory of the Omani team over the Lebanese with a single goal, and in return, the Palestinian team beat its Syrian counterpart with a goal without a response.

Next Friday, the third and final round of the group stage will be held, when Al-Madinah International Stadium will host the matches of Lebanon with Yemen and Iraq with the UAE, while Karbala Stadium will witness the match between Palestine and Iran.

According to the tournament system, the group stage will be held from one stage, then the champion of each group, in addition to the owner of the second best position, will qualify for the semi-finals, after which the two winners will move from the two matches of this round to the final match.
