Abdulaziz Al-Muqbali.. The march of one of the Omani red snipers

A sniper striker, the fans always have hopes and ambitions for him, whether with clubs or teams, his place throughout the season is at the forefront of scorers, a member of the Oman scorer battalion throughout history, after Hani Al-Dabet and Imad Al-Hosani, Azzouz as the Omani fans like to call him, Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al-Muqbali.

Abdulaziz Al-Muqbali was born in Sohar on April 23, 1989. He started his football career at an early age, as he joined Al-Suwaiq Club in the 2009/2010 season. He participated with it in 17 matches, without scoring any goal, and achieved with it the league championship, and from 2010 until 2012, he played for the club Sohar 35 games, during which he scored two goals, and his real start came in the Omantel League season 2012/2013 accompanied by Al Shabab Club, then he quickly departed to the Saudi League through the gate of cooperation, in a short experience that lasted 6 months during 2013, he played 8 matches with it, and scored one goal, he returned then to the Omantel League, accompanied by Fanja, with whom he spent his brilliant period, from 2013 to 2017, during which he scored 37 goals, which was a major reason for the club to win the league and cup titles, while he was runner-up in the league twice, and signed a 4-month contract in 2015 with Kuwait Al Kuwait.

Al-Muqbali also won the league title with Al-Suwaiq Club 2017/2018, scoring 21 goals during the season, which made him the top scorer in the competition. After the end of the season, he left again to the Qatari league to join Al Shamal Club, from which he returned to the leader of Omani clubs, Dhofar Club, to later move to the Emperor Al-Seeb Club, with whom he recently achieved the title of His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup. He scored with it 9 goals this season, which has 6 remaining rounds (the second top scorer in the tournament), and Al-Seeb is currently at the top of the standings and is very close to combining the two titles.

At the international level, Al-Maqbali began his career with the under-23 team, in 2011, in the London 2012 Olympic qualifiers, scoring two goals during the third round of the qualifiers, and despite Al-Ahmar’s having a playoff with Senegal, the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics evaporated by losing a double, and in the same season he joined the first team, and he played with it in the 2013 Gulf Cup, but he did not score any goals.

Al-Muqbali participated in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, scoring two goals, and despite the Omani red reaching the fourth round, he lost the opportunity to qualify after the loss from Jordan 0-1. He also participated in the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers, and scored a goal against Syria in the first matches of the Omani team. He continued his participation with the national team in the World Cup Russia 2018, the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers, the 2019 Asian Cup, Gulf 22 (he scored two goals against Kuwait in the confrontation that ended with Oman winning five clean), Gulf 24, World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers, where the Omani public relied a lot on it’s sniper striker, but the Omani team’s fall in a strong group alongside Saudi Arabia, Japan, Australia, China, and then Vietnam, made the players’ task difficult, and Al-Muqbali’s shot remained at the top of the scene for a long time after he missed an easy opportunity against the Saudi Green in Muscat, in the meeting that ended with the loss of Al-Ahmar 0/1, and in the end, Al-Ahmar finished fourth in his group and lost the opportunity to play the play-off in favor of Australia by one point, while Al-Muqbali, accompanied by the team, awaits another important entitlement, the 2023 Asian Cup, and Al-Muqbali is still one of the main betting cards for the Omani fans.
