Sami Al-Nash: Our goal is the first victory in the Gulf

Yemeni coach Sami Al-Nash said his team is ready for their first victory in the history of the tournament.

Sami Al-Nash: “I welcome everyone here in Doha. We have played some good games in previous Gulf tournaments but we are still looking for victories after we have achieved draws and some memories, and our goal is to provide a good level and achieve the first victory that delight everyone in our country”.

He continued: “We all hope for positive results. We all know that Yemen has stopped these activities for a couple of years now, but we benefited from participating in the West Asian Championship and Asian qualifiers and I expect a positive participation and this is what we hope. The team played 10 games and it is developing”.

“We have played against strong teams in the qualifiers and in West Asia and we respect everyone. Our group includes Qatar, Iraq and UAE which are strong”.

He continued: “The draw system was changed recently because of the participation of the three teams and there was a short period to study the opponents, but we studied our group in the past”.

He praised the atmosphere surrounding the tournament in terms of accommodation and training fields, stressing that it is ideal to provide the best.

On the presence of the Yemeni public in Qatar: “We hope we have a big presence of fans and it is a pleasure to play in front of our fans in Qatar”.
