The Qatari team beats Lebanon in the opening of the Asian Cup

With a clean hat-trick, the Qatari team succeeded in defeating its Lebanese team on the opening night of the Asian Cup.

After a dazzling ceremony that extended for thirty minutes, it began with a countdown after the arrival of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and included a musical performance based on one of the most important Asian literary legacies, the book Kalila and Dimna, which established its place in history, as the ceremony revealed the missing chapter. From the historical novel, this was followed by a fireworks segment, a song from the Palestinian heritage, and several segments that presented many important messages. The opening match between the Qatari team, the defending champion, and its Lebanese team, began at the Lusail World Cup Stadium, amid a crowd of 65,000 spectators.

Akram Afif succeeded in giving Qatar the lead in the 45th minute, and Qatar’s historic top scorer, Al-Moez Ali, added the second goal in the 56th minute. Then Akram Afif confirmed Qatari superiority with the third goal for Qatar and its second goal in the 90th minute.
