Salem Al-Dosari…the Saudi national team and Al Hilal Club star, the best Asian player

Saudi Al-Akhdar and Al-Hilal star, Salem Al-Dosari, won the Best Player in Asia Award within the continent, during the annual Asian Football Confederation Awards ceremony held in Doha, yesterday evening.

Al-Dosari (32 years old) became the 25th winner of the award since its launch in 1994. He also became the sixth Saudi player and the fifth from Al-Hilal to receive it, which is a record for any country and club, respectively.

Al-Dosari joined the Al-Hilal youth team, and then rose to become one of the main pillars of the team and the national team.

Al-Dosari starred in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he scored the winning goal 2-1 in the Saudi national team opening match against Argentina, which later won the title. He also scored another goal against Mexico, equaling the record for the most goals in the World Cup finals for a Saudi player, with a total of 3. Goals, equal to the legend Sami Al Jaber, whose number has remained constant since 2006.

Al-Dosari also led Al-Hilal to qualify for the 2022 Club World Cup final, where he scored two goals and made another, as they beat Brazilian Flamengo 3-2 in the 2022 Club World Cup semi-final in Morocco.

On the local level, Al-Dosari led Al-Hilal to win the 2021/2022 Saudi League title and the 2022/2023 King’s Cup. He also scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists in eight matches to lead Al-Hilal to the AFC Champions League final for the fifth time, which is a record, as the Saudi team obtained the second position in the 2022 edition.
