Moaz Abdul Khaleq.. The march of the giant Yemeni guard

Protector of the den of Yemeni clubs and national teams, one of the best stars produced by Al-Saeed Yemen, he spent 22 years in the stadiums, during which he achieved many achievements with the first national team.

He is the dean of the Yemeni guards, or as the Yemeni fans like, the goalkeeper of the century, and the giant of the Yemeni guard, Moaz Abdel-Khalek, who was born on January 2, 1972 in Abyan. He played for Al-Ahly club, and whose career with it is considered the best, as he achieved many achievements represented in 6 general league titles, 3 Republic Cup championships, 3 Super Cups, the Friendship Championship that was held in Ethiopia with the participation of 3 clubs from Yemen, Ethiopia, and Sudan, and he also played many foreign participations as the most Yemeni player, and after moving to Al-Orouba Club, Abdul Khaleq achieved the General League Championship.

At the international level, Moaz Abdel-Khaleq represented all categories of national teams (juniors, youth, Olympic, first team), where he played during his career that spanned more than two decades 80 international matches, and was awarded the captaincy to the first team, with whom he played in many tournaments, the most important of which are: Qualifiers Asian Junior Cup Qatar 1990, Barcelona Olympics 1992 Qualifiers, Arab Universities Championship Egypt 1993, his first participation with the first team came in the 1994 Qatar Independence Championship, Japan 1995 Asian Games, 1995 Hiroshima Asian Cup Qualifiers, 1997 Saudi Asian Cup Qualifiers, World Cup Qualifiers France 1998, World Cup qualifiers Korea and Japan 2002, Asian Games South Korea 2002, Arab Cup 2003, 2004 Asian Cup qualifiers, Gulf Cup (17), Qatar 2005, 2006 Germany World Cup qualifiers, and his last international participation 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers.

Moaz Abdul-Khaleq is unique in special numbers, as he played 21 league seasons from 1990 to 2013. He also participated in 4 World Cup qualifiers, and won 24 championships (a number that a player had never achieved in the history of Yemeni football). He also won the best goalkeeper award 5 times, in a season. 1991/1992 conceded only 8 goals over 30 matches, and in the 2008/2009 season, netted 9 goals in 28 matches.

After retiring from playing, Abd al-Khaleq took over the task of training the guards at Al-Ahly Club Sanaa 2012/2013, and Ittihad Sana’a Club 2017/2019, then he was chosen to train the guards of the first team in the West Asian Championship in Iraq 2019, and the double qualifiers (Asia Cup and World Cup Qatar 2022), and during the Gulf Cup 24 in Fitr 2019, and the Arab Cup 2021.
