Gulf Union Executive Office confirms Qatar’s right to host Gulf 24

The Executive Office of the Gulf Football Federation held a meeting this afternoon under the chairmanship of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatari and Gulf Federations.

The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Bureau: Mohammed Khalil (Kuwait), Dr. Jassim Al-Shukaili (Oman), Dr. Hamid Al-Shaibani (Yemen) and Tariq Ahmed (Iraq).

After the meeting, Jassem Al-Rumaihi said that the President of the Federation welcomed the brothers and congratulated Tariq Ahmed on the success of his surgery.

He added: “The work of the Gulf Union in the past period was discussed and reviewed. Also we discussed the proposed budget, which will be adopted at the meeting of the General Assembly of the Union next May 15 in Doha”.

Jassim Al Rumaihi said: “The Executive Office confirmed the eligibility of the State of Qatar to host Gulf 24 (December and January), according to the regulations of the Statute of the Gulf Union.  Gulf 24 will be held with the participation of five teams after the Gulf Union received official approval from the five federations: Kuwait, Oman, Yemen Iraq and Qatar as well”.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Federation mentioned that the President of the Gulf Federation had officially invited the eight federations on time, which is a year before the start of the tournament, and received the approvals of the five federations, which were mentioned in advance.

He announced that the race to run for the elections of the President and Vice President of the Gulf, will close on March 31, and the announcement of the names will be on April 1.

The elections will be held on May 15 on the sidelines of the Doha General Assembly.
