UAE faces Qatar in the opening of the friendly tournament in Doha

The UAE Olympic football team will meet at eleven o’clock this evening with Qatar, at Al-Dakhil Stadium, in the opening match of the international friendly tournament hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, from the 20th to the 28th of this month, with the participation of 10 Asian teams.

The Olympic UAE team concluded its preparations for the confrontation by performing two training sessions in Doha under the leadership of Spanish coach Denis Silva, with the participation of 25 players, namely, Rakan Walid, Ahmed Mahmoud, Zayed Sultan, Mubarak Ahmed, Ahmed Fawzi, Muhammad Abdullah, Nawaf Al-Harthy (Al-Jazeera) Abdullah Al-Raisi (Ajman) Fahd  Badr (UAE), Issa Khalfan (Al-Ain), Ali Abdulaziz (Al-Nasr), Abdullah Ahmed (Al-Wahda), Muhammad Youssef, Abdulaziz Al-Balushi, Sultan Al-Badwawi, Abdul-Rahman Adel (Shabab Al-Ahly), Khamis Al-Mansouri (Bani Yas), Abdullah Al-Hammadi (Al-Dhafra) Hamad Al-Muqbali (Fujairah)  Yasser Hassan (Ittihad Kalba), Abdullah Abbas (Al-Bataeh), Ateeq Essam (Al-Wasl), Khaled Tawheed, Hamad Fahd, Maid Saeed Al-Kass (Sharjah).

Jamal Buhindi, director of the national team, said: “The national team’s participation in this tournament comes as part of the national team’s early preparation program, which is one of the top priorities of the National Teams and Technical Affairs Committee of the Football Association, so that we are fully prepared and ready for the upcoming participation.”

Buhindi added: “The national team recently played 6 friendly matches against the national teams of Oman, South Korea and Uzbekistan during three internal camps in Dubai, Fujairah and Ras al-Khaimah. Efforts has been made to have the necessary matches needed to develop the capabilities of the players.
