Gulf 6.. Kuwait crowned the title in preparation for the World Cup

The United Arab Emirates hosted the sixth edition of the Gulf Games, at Madinat Zayed Stadium, from March 19 to April 4, 1982, with the participation of 6 teams: Kuwait, who participated in the reserve squad, as it was preparing to participate in the World Cup finals, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman.

The tournament was held in one group system, where each team played 5 matches. Kuwait topped the group and won the title with four wins and one loss with 8 points, followed by the Bahraini Reds with 7 points, from 3 wins, a draw and a loss, and the Emirati White came third with 6 points from three cases. A victory and two losses, then Saudi Arabia with 5 points, from two wins, a draw and two losses, then Qatar fifth with 4 points from two wins and three losses, and finally the Omani Red without a balance of points after 5 losses.

Four players won the title of top scorer in the tournament: Kuwaiti Youssef Sweid, Emirati Salem Khalifa, Saudi Majed Abdullah and Bahraini Ibrahim Zuwaid, while the award for best player in the tournament was withheld, and the award for the best goalkeeper was won by Emirati Saeed Salboukh.

Youssef Suwaid, Ibrahim Zuwaid, Salem Khalifa, and Majed Abdullah scored three goals. Youssef Sherida and Hamad Muhammad scored two goals, and Fahd Khamis, Badr Bilal, Muhammad Afifa, Mansour Muftah, Abdulaziz scored one goal. Al-Anbari, Shaker Abdel-Jalil, Fouad Bushaqer, Nasser Hamdan, Muayyed Al-Haddad, Khalil Shweier, Salem Hadid, Issa Hamdan, Jamal Farhan, Othman Marzouk, Muhammad Salem Hamdoun, Fahd Khamis, Salem Jamaan, Nasser Al-Ghanem, Khaled Salman, Hassan Al-Qadi.
