Ali Mabkhout.. The story of the historical goalscorer of the Emirati Al-Abyad club and Al-Jazira club
One of the legends of the Emirati football, the record-breaker who is characterized by the speed of movement and the power of shooting, the historical scorer of the Emirati Al-Abyad in the Gulf Cup (overtaking Adnan Al-Taliani by scoring the 154th goal), as well as the historical scorer of the UAE League (he succeeded in overcoming the brown leopard Fahd Khamis when he scored the 176th goal), to remain the top scorer of the Arab Gulf League and the holder of the longest professional contract with Al-Jazira, the club’s historical scorer, he is Ali Mabkhout.
Ali Ahmed Mabkhout Al-Hajri was born in the capital Abu Dhabi on October 5, 1990. He started his football career in the youth stages of Al Jazira Club since 2004, until he was promoted to the first team in 2008, and he is still with the club according to a long-term contract until 2026, and he also joined the Emirates U-20 team in 2008. Al-Abyad joined the U-23 team, until he reached the first team in 2012.
After his promotion to the first team on the island in 2008, Mabkhout’s star began to shine, achieving many achievements and becoming a record-breaker at the local and international levels. The Arabian Gulf League title for the second time in its history, and he became the island’s historical scorer throughout the ages, and he is the only Emirati player to win the title of top scorer in the Arab Gulf League in the era of professionalism twice (seasons 2016/2017 with 33 goals, 2020/2021 with 25 goals).
At the level of the first team, Mabkhout joined Al-Abyad in 2012, and since then has succeeded in securing a key place in the list to become the first star in the squad and the goal machine for the team, and contributed significantly to the crowning of the Emirates in the 2013 Gulf Cup, the 2015 Asian Cup bronze, and fourth place in the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE .
2015 remains an exceptional year in Mabkhout’s life, during which he achieved many personal achievements. He was crowned top scorer for the 22nd Gulf Cup in Saudi Arabia with 5 goals. In the same year, he scored the fastest goal in the history of the Asian Championship, against Bahrain after only 14 seconds from the whistle. He also managed in this version to win the tournament’s top scorer award (the only Emirati to achieve this achievement), and was also crowned this year as the best player in the Arab Gulf League.
