After the ban was lifted, the Lions of Al-Rafidain open their confrontations in Baghdad in front of the Emirates

The Iraqi national team will open its first confrontation after lifting the ban on its stadiums by hosting the UAE national team at Al-Madina International Stadium in Baghdad on March 24, as part of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup Qatar.

And the spokesman for the Iraqi Federation, Ahmed Al-Moussawi, said in a statement, “Officially, the ban on Iraq’s stadiums has been lifted,” and he thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports, according to what was reported by the official Iraqi News Agency, “Aware.”

The head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, also announced that the Iraqi national team will meet its Emirati counterpart in Baghdad at Al-Madina International Stadium, after official approval from the International Federation of the game “FIFA”.

The former Iraqi international player explained that “FIFA’s approval came after the efforts made by the Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, positive moves and the brilliant success in organizing international matches that were held in Baghdad.”

In the last period, Iraqi stadiums faced a ban imposed by the International Football Association, based on security assessments that did not allow matches to be held.
