Al-Na’ash: Our game against Iraq is important
Yemeni national team coach Sami Al-Na’ash said in a press conference before the Iraq match that the upcoming match is important and the Yemeni team is keen to play in a remarkable way, a valuable opportunity to rebalance.
“The general situation in Yemen does not help to create a strong team because the sporting activity is stalled, and there are players who do not have enough experience”, he added.
He continued: “Performance and results are different aspects. The results are heavy and clear, but if we look at the performance, we can be fair to the Yemeni team.”
Asked about the performance of the Yemeni team in the Asian qualifiers compared to the Gulf championship, Al-Na’ash said: “We are in a strong group in the Gulf Cup. We do not justify ourselves, but we are playing against long-standing teams.”
With regard to the goalkeeper, the Yemeni coach stressed that choosing a goalkeeper is a sensitive matter. He said that he started with Salem Awad in the Asian qualifiers and he succeeded, but the process of involving a new goalkeeper is difficult. They may see the participation of Mohamed Ibrahim in the next game.
Al-Na’ash pointed out that football is the only thing that brings together Yemenis, and the masses will continue to support the team.
He added: “The goal in the next game is to improve the image of the team. We have ambition for a good result and there will be slight changes in front of Iraq.”
He concluded by saying: “There are many things that prevent the development of the Yemeni team.”
