Katanic: I am not going to tell you my goal in the tournament

Iraq coach Strijko Katanic has refused to say what he is aiming for.

“I would like to wish Bassam Al-Rawi a speedy recovery,” he told the pre-match press conference.

He added: “Football is like this, Qatar was better with us but they did not score goals and we scored. I am realistic and realize that tomorrow’s game is very difficult and the players have to show all their potential to win, and I hope that the scenario of Qatar will be repeated again.”

On the Iraqi league, he said: “Currently the Iraqi league has stopped and I can not talk more. I ask the players to give more on the pitch and I will not be happy unless we come together for the goal, and I will not tell you our goal. This is a secret between me and the players only.”

Concerning the changes to UAE: “Through training today, I will decide what to do. Everyone is ready and wants to participate and this is good. I will choose what is appropriate.”

Asked as a former White coach if UAE match would be emotional, Katanic said: “No, it is not wrong. I worked with them before and grateful to work with them, and I spent a good time there. Today’s game is not to prove something for them. I do my job with Iraq only.”
