Al-Thani as president of the Gulf Union and Shakili as his deputy
The meeting of the General Assembly of the Arabian Gulf Football Federation (Congress) resulted in the election of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani as the new President of the Presidency of the Gulf Federation, and Dr. Jassim Al-Shukaili as his Deputy for the period 2019-2021, at the meeting held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Sheikh Hamad Al Thani starts a new term, which will remain in the presidency until 2021, to complete five years in the presidency of the Union after it was announced in 2016, and is headquartered in the Qatari capital, Doha.
His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani has submitted to the elections after the opening of the candidacy, and also Jassem bin Mohammed al-Shukaili to run for vice president, and although the competition is limited to the duo in each position, the list stressed the need for a majority of members (5), and then holding the ballot secretly even if there is a candidate, and the need for the candidate to obtain the majority of votes present at the meeting to be declared a winner.
After his election, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, chairman of the Qatari and Gulf federations, chaired a closed-door meeting with the presidents of the federations, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef (Kuwait), Sheikh Salem Al-Wahaibi (Oman), Abdul Khaliq Masood (Iraq), Federation representative Labib Mahdi (Yemen) and Saud Al-Muhannadi from the Qatari federation, discussing administrative, financial and technical reports.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the 24th Gulf Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the Qatari capital Doha between December and January.
