Harvest of the Iraqi league: stability of the summit after the faltering of Al-Quwa Al Jawiya and Al- Shorta

The leaders, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, suffered a goalless draw with Naft Al-Basra in the seventeenth round of the Iraqi Football League. Despite this, it maintained the top spot in the overall standings of the competition, 5 points ahead of Al-Shorta, which is in second place.

The second-placed Al-Shorta did not take advantage of the leaders’ stumble when they also tied with their fifth-placed counterpart, Nawroz, who advanced first with a goal by Marwan Hussein (3), before the Syrian Mahmoud Al-Mawas equalized for Al-Shorta with a goal that came in the 36th minute of the first half of the match.

Zakho advanced to third place by defeating Al-Zawraa, which fell to sixth place, with a goal by Frank Abujo (41), while Al-Mina’a won over Dohuk with two goals to none, scored by Salem Ahmed (26) and Sajjad Alaa (72), and Al-Hudoud defeated Al-Talaba with a goal by Nathaniel Nankulu (16).

Erbil outperformed Amanat Baghdad with four goals scored by Muhammad Nassif (8 and 37), Yassin Samia (79) and Sherko Karim (90 + 1), compared to a single goal scored by Raad Fanar (45). Najaf won over Al-Karkh with a clean 3-point score scored by Hazem Al-Masturi (21) and Dominic, Mendy (90) and Muhammad Daoud Yassin (90+5).

Al-Kahraba also defeated Naft Al-Wasat with a clean score scored by Muhaymen Salim (36 from a penalty kick and 86) and Rafiq Aminu (53), Karbala beat Al-Qasim with a goal by Ali Saleh (73), and Naft Maysan tied with Al-Naft without goals.
