Saudi Arabia clings to the lead after a draw with Thailand

The Saudi national team maintained its lead after drawing with Thailand 0-0 on Thursday at Education City Stadium in Doha, in the third and final round of Group Six competitions in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

The advantage during the match was in favor of the Saudi team, which had many opportunities, but without succeeding in reaching the goal.

Saudi Arabia topped the group standings with 7 points from three matches, compared to 5 points for Thailand, 2 points for Oman, and a point for Kyrgyzstan, as Saudi Arabia and Thailand qualified for the round of 16.

On Thursday, January 16, the first round of group competitions witnessed Saudi Arabia defeating Oman 2-1 at Khalifa International Stadium, and Thailand defeating Kyrgyzstan 2-0 at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

On the other hand, the second round on Sunday, January 21, witnessed Saudi Arabia defeating Kyrgyzstan 2-0 at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, and Oman tied with Thailand 0-0 at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
