Results of the fifth round of the third group of the AFC Cup

Al-Arabi Club of Kuwait tied with its guest Al-Zawraa of Iraq 1-1 at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait, in the fifth round of the third group competitions in the AFC Cup 2023-2024.

Al-Zawraa took the lead in the first half through Christopher John’s goal (31), but Al-Arabi equalized at the last minute through Sultan Al-Enezi’s goal (89).

Al-Zawraa completed the match with ten players after Ali Kazem was sent off in the 37th minute as a result of receiving a second warning.

The second match in the same group also witnessed the victory of Bahrain’s Riffa over its Lebanese counterpart, Al-Najma, 6-1, at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama.

Al-Riffa raised its score at the top of the group standings to 13 points from five matches, compared to 8 points for Al-Zawraa, 5 for Al-Arabi, and a point for Al-Najma, as Al-Riffa secured the top spot in the group and qualified for the semi-finals of the Western Region.

Oman’s Al-Nahda defeated its guest, Al-Ahed of Lebanon, in the first group, 2-1, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Stadium in Muscat.
Bilal Bin Saha (32) and Omar Al-Maliki (35) scored Al-Nahda’s goals, while Ali Al-Hajj (65) scored Al-Ahed’s goal, putting Al-Nahda at the top of the group with 9 points and being the first to qualify for the Western Region semi-finals.

The sixth and final round of the group competitions will be held on December 12, where Al-Zawraa will meet Al-Riffa, Al-Najma will face Al-Arabi, while the Lebanese Al-Ahed will face the Syrian Al Fatwa.
