Iraqi League: Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya clings to the lead
Al Quwa Al Jawiya team achieved its third successive victory when it overcame its counterpart Newroz 2-1 in the framework of the third round of the competition, which witnessed many remarkable results. The two goals of the team were scored by Ayman Hussein (7 from a penalty kick) and Ali Jassim (53), while Newroz’s goal was scored by Mohamed Sami (45+4 from a penalty kick), putting the winner away by two points from its closest pursuers.
Al-Hodood won over Al-Naft with two free goals scored by Ibrahim Ghazi (66 from a penalty kick) and Ali Karim (80), and Dohuk tied with Zakho without goals.
Al-Shorta defeated Al-Mina’a by an official decision from the Iraqi Federation, where the former was considered a 3-0 winner after a numerical deficiency among its rivals at the 11th minute of the match.
Al-Zawraa defeated Al-Qasim with a goal from Collins Obari (57), and Al-Najaf defeated Naft Al-Wasat with two goals scored by Karim Benarif (35 from a penalty kick) and Muhammad Hussein (81).
Naft Maysan won over Al-Talaba with a clean score scored by Aladdin Al-Dali (21, 61, 81) and Benjamin Akor (51), and Erbil defeated Al-Kahraba with a goal from Yassin Samia (90 + 5).
Karbala tied with Naft Al-Wasat with two goals each, scored for the first by Abdul Qadir Tariq Aziz (1) and Ibrahim Akuné (90+5), and for the second by Romeo Resende (25) and Hilton Matthews (89).
Al-Karkh also tied with a goal by Carlos Caio (2) with Amanat Baghdad, for which Karar Ali scored (56).
