The start of the Yemeni League competitions
The Yemeni Refresher League first division competitions began in its new version, with the first group gathering the capital, Sana’a, and within the first opening round, the Ahly Sana’a team achieved the first three points on its score in the League Bank, by defeating the Ittihad Ibb team with a single goal in the confrontation that brought the two teams together, at the stadium Sanaa unit Al Wahda.
In another confrontation for the second group in the city of Sayun, in the second round, the Ittihad Sanaa team won the first three points from its first confrontation in the tournament, by an administrative decision, after the Vanguard of Taiz team was absent from attending the confrontation stadium in the city of Sayun in Hadramaut, as according to the tournament regulations it was considered a loser. Note that Al-Taliah, promoted from the second division, had also missed the first round match against the Fahman team and was considered a 0/3 loser. It is expected, according to the regulations, that due to its absence from two matches, the penalty of relegation to the second division will be applied against it.
It is noteworthy that the draw for the league competitions distributed the teams into 14, divided into two groups, where the first group included the teams (Ahly Sanaa, Al-Saqr Taiz, Al-Hilal, Al-Orouba, Ittihad Ibb, Samoun, and Tadamon Hadhramaut), while the second group included the teams (Fahman, Wahdat Sanaa, Shaab Ibb, Yarmouk, Shaab Hadramaut,Taliyah , Taiz and Salam Al ghurfa).
The launch of the Yemeni Refresher League, in its current new version, comes after a hiatus of two seasons since the holding of the last Refresher League, the 2020-2021 season, which was won by the Fahman Abyan team, noting that the last official league with the all-home-and-away system, was held in the 2013-2014 season and won its titl the Saqr Taiz team.
