Results of Gulf clubs in the first round of the King Salman Cup

A goalless draw settled the first Gulf club confrontations in the King Salman Cup, as Al-Sadd of Qatar and Moroccan Wydad Casablanca tied negatively in the opening competitions of the tournament, which Saudi Arabia will host until August 12.

In the same group, there was also a negative tie between Al-Hilal and the Libyan Al-Ahly of Tripoli, and the second round will witness the confrontation of Al-Hilal and Al-Sadd on Sunday.

The Iraqi Al Shorta succeeded in beating Tunisian Sfaxien with a clean goal in the first group competitions. Alaa Abdel Zahra scored Al Shorta goal from a penalty kick in the 64th minute.

In the same group, Karim Benzema led Al-Ittihad Jeddah to beat Esperance of Tunisia 2/1. Taraji advanced in the 26th minute, through Osama Bou Qara, with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, and in the 35th minute, Al-Ittihad managed to equalize through Abdul Razzaq Hamad Allah when Benzema crossed the head of Hamdallah, who put it in the net.

In the 55th minute, Benzema scored the second goal for Al-Ittihad, with a shot from the right side of the Esperance goal, signing his first goal with Al-Ittihad.

The Emirati Al Wahda also defeated Kuwait 2/1, in the fourth group competitions. Al-Wehda advanced through Suhail Al-Mansouri in the 73rd minute, before Joao Pedro added the second goal in the 77th minute, and in the second minute of the counted time instead of lost for the second half, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri scored the only goal for the Kuwaiti Al Kuwait.

While the negative tie overshadowed the confrontation between Al-Nasr and the Saudi youth, in the third group, and Al-Nasr will play in the next round with Al-Ittihad Al-Monastiri, while Al-Shabab will face Zamalek next Monday.
