AFC Youth Cup 2023: Qatar receives the second loss in the tournament against Vietnam

The Qatari national team suffered its second loss in the AFC U-20 Youth Cup 2023, against the Vietnam national team, with a score of 2-1. The match was held at Independence Stadium in Fergana, as part of the second round of the second Group competitions in the AFC U-20 Youth Cup 2023 in Uzbekistan.

Nguyen Quoc Viet (45 + 2) and Nguyen Van Trung (90) scored the two goals for Vietnam, while Ahmed Al-Rawi (84 from a penalty kick) scored the Qatar goal.

Vietnam was the only team in the group standings with 6 points from two matches, with 3 points each for Australia and Iran, while Qatar’s balance remained devoid of points.

The third and final round of group competitions will be held on Tuesday, when Qatar will meet Australia, and Vietnam will meet Iran.

On Wednesday, in the first round Iran beat Qatar 1-0 and Vietnam beat Australia 1-0.

The first two teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals, whose matches will be held on March 11 and 12.

It is noteworthy that the teams that finish in the first four places in the tournament qualify for the FIFA U-20 Youth World Cup 2023 in Indonesia.
