Gulf 14.. Kuwait is the champion for the ninth and second time in a row
The Fourteenth Gulf Cup was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, from October 30 to November 12, 1998, and all matches were played at the Bahrain National Stadium.
Teams participated in this version: Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, and 40 goals were scored, over the course of 15 matches.
The Kuwait national team achieved the title for the second time in a row and the ninth in its history in the tournament with 12 points from 4 wins and one loss. The Saudi Greens came runner-up by a point difference of only (11), from 3 wins and two draws, then the UAE came third with 7 points, from two wins, a draw and two losses. Oman came fourth with four points from a win, a draw and three losses, Bahrain fifth with three points from three draws, and finally Qatar with three points also from three draws, but by goal difference, as both teams scored 3 goals, but Bahrain’s net received 6 goals, while Al-Annabi’s net was shaken in 8 occasions.
The Kuwaiti Jassim Al-Huwaidi was awarded the title of top scorer in the championship, and the best goalkeeper was won by Saudi Muhammad Al-Deayea, and the Kuwaiti Badr Hajji won the title of best player.
