The tournament witnessed a number of surprises, and the start was with the withdrawal of the Saudi green before the start of the tournament, while the second surprise was the withdrawal of the Lions of Mesopotamia after facing the Emirates, so that the tenth session of the Arab Gulf Cup was to be held with the participation of only five teams, namely Kuwait, Oman, the Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar.

The Kuwaiti hosts, Al-Azraq, opened the championship confrontations with a 1-0 victory over Bahrain, during which 10 matches were played, five of which ended in a draw.

The tournament witnessed the scoring of 21 goals, the first of which was Kuwaiti Wael Suleiman’s goal against Bahrain, and the last of which was Kuwaiti Wael Nassar’s goal against the Emirates. It also witnessed the publication of ten yellow cards and three expulsions.

At the end of the tournament, Kuwait’s Blue won the title for the seventh time in its history, led by Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Qatari team came as runner-up, while the third place went to the Bahrain team, and the fourth place to the Oman team.

At the level of individual awards, Kuwaiti Mohammed Ibrahim was able to win the tournament’s top scorer title with five goals, Emirati Nasser Khamis won the best player award, and Bahraini goalkeepers Hammoud Sultan and Kuwaiti Samir Saeed shared the best award.
